Terry Fox Run takes off Sunday

If you haven’t been busy collecting pledges for this year’s Terry Fox Run, you’ve only got four more days left to do so.
It is slated to go Sunday at 3 p.m. from La Place Rendez-Vous but entrants are being urged to register by 2 p.m. Participants can run, jog, walk, bike, or in-line skate along the route, which will go across the overpass and down Front Street to La Verendrye hospital.
The route then turns north on to Victoria Avenue to Second Street East and back to the river. It will loop around Fort St. Pierre at Pither’s Point Park, then return to the Rendez-Vous.
Pledge sheets still can be picked up at the Rendez-Vous, East End Confectionery, Rainy Lake Sports and Tackle, Einar’s, Sparky’s, the Dough and Deli, Family and Children’s Services, Tammi’s Flower Garden, International Travel Services, Pharmasave, TD Bank, Green’s Furniture, Mohawk, Sunset Shell, The Place, Witherspoon’s, the Fort Frances Public Library, and the Civic Centre.
Anyone with pledges totalling more than $100 will have their names entered into a draw for a trip to Florida, courtesy of International Travel Services.
And your name will be entered again for each subsequent $100 raised, increasing your chances to win.
“I think it’s a very good cause, and it’s great to be able to help out the Canadian Cancer Society in any way,” noted ITS owner Pat Herr. “I hope it gives people the incentive to go out and get pledges.”
