It’s been a little over a year since the Northwest Catholic District School Board received approval from the Ministry of Education to consolidate St. Michael’s and St. Francis schools here into a single JK-Grade 8 school.
Now the project is continuing to move forward.
Trustees, via electronic motion, awarded the New School Build Project Management Services tender to Colliers Project Leaders, based in Thunder Bay, in the amount of $250,020, excluding taxes.
“The evaluation committee evaluated the proposal using an evaluation matrix and subsequently trustees were contacted via e-mail on Nov. 18, with a request for approval of the Colliers Project Leaders proposal by Nov. 21 at 1 p.m.,” Superintendent of Business Seija Van Haesendonck said in a report to the board.
Administration received a favourable majority approval from trustees.
The consolidated school, to be located on the St. Francis School site, is slated to open for the 2018-19 school year.
The ministry granted the board $12.06 million to complete this project.
The board will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s School in Dryden.
