The Citizens for Backus/AB based in International Falls continue to do their best to bring fresh, new entertainment to the area and this week’s offering is a country duo called the Hewitt Sisters.
The sisters—18-year-old Katrice and 16-year-old Ashlee—play a mix of old and new country, including George Strait, Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Dwight Yoakam, and Alan Jackson.
“They do a lot of songs that people would recognize,” said Barb Metzger, director for the Citizens for Backus/AB.
The concert is slated for this Saturday (Feb. 21) at 7:30 p.m. at the Backus Auditorium in the Falls.
Advance tickets are available at Northwoods Gallery and Gifts in Fort Frances at a cost of $9 for adults, $5 for children, and $25 for families (both parents and all their children).
Tickets at the door will cost the same, except in U.S. dollars.
The sisters have one CD under their belt, and are working on their second at a recording studio in Nashville, Tenn.
The duo have performed twice at the Norsk Host Festival in North Dakota, and also sang the U.S. national anthem at the MetroDome for the Minnesota Twins back in September.
The pair come from a family of 12 children in Lancaster, Mn. and play a variety of instruments, including fiddle, bass, mandolin, and rhythm guitar.
They often perform with singer and musician Ray Husker and bassist Duane Lyberg.
