The local Tagg’s Bantam rep team captured the Park Rapids Bantam ‘AA’ tournament for the second year in a row, nipping International Falls 1-0 in the final.
Eric Mosbeck, assisted by Cody Mosbeck, netted the eventual game-winner late in the second period, then Tagg’s played solid defence to hang on to the victory.
Tagg’s had opened the tourney Saturday afternoon with a 13-0 drubbing against Detroit Lakes. Mike Niskala and Jordan Wilson each netted a hat trick to lead the onslaught.
Jamie Davis and Scott Bridgeman each tallied twice, with Andrew Wiersema, Tanner Kaemingh, and David Pollard adding singles. Assists went to Davis (three), Terry Kellar (two), Cody Mosbeck, Tyler Barker, and Pollard.
Then against Wadena, Tagg’s skated away with a 5-0 win to advance to the final versus International Falls.
Davis led the attack with a pair of goals in that one, with singles going to Barker and Kaemingh. Niskala (three), Kyle McTavish, and Davis were credited with assists.
Team manager Ron Bridgeman noted their first and second wins came easy but they had to work for the third victory in the final against the Falls.
