The community Christmas dinner is just 10 days away but everything is falling into place.
The 29th-annual event will take place Christmas Day from noon-2 p.m. at Knox United Church here.
Sandra Lange of the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau said some volunteers are lined up but more helpers always are welcome.
Jobs include setting up, serving food on Christmas Day, delivering “Meals on Wheels,” and cleaning up afterwards.
To volunteer, call Lange at 276-1737 or 274-9555 (leave a message).
If you can’t make it to the church for the dinner, you can have a Christmas meal delivered to your residence thanks to “Meals on Wheels.”
But to do so, you must contact June Caul at 275-6624 prior to Dec. 21.
Meanwhile, food donations have come in for the annual dinner through events like the seventh-annual “Stuff-a-Cruiser” held this past Saturday.
Lange said they should have all of the turkeys needed, for example, although organizers are welcoming cash donations to help buy the other fixings.
These acts of generosity will help put out a full meal of turkey, ham, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, pickles, buns, and dessert on Christmas Day.
As in past years, the community Christmas dinner is free and open to everybody—whether those who might not have family to share the holiday with or those who simply want to socialize with their fellow citizens.
Thanks to recent renovations, Knox United Church is fully-accessible.
There also will be some live Christmas music courtesy of Diane Maxey and the Fort Frances Choraliers.
