Syncor to build this summer

Syncor Contracting is planning to go ahead this summer with a new townhome development on Front Street, as well as a second development at the Huffman Court subdivision on Williams Avenue.
Syncor spokesperson Len Smart said the Front Street property was surveyed last Wednesday (May 18).
“We are now waiting on the town to run in the site services, which is part of our purchase agreement with the town,” he told the Times.
“The townhouse drawings are substantially complete and are ready for permit submission,” Smart added.
“We have two sales pending at the Front Street location and we are absolutely confident that once construction begins, the interest level will take another step forward,” he remarked.
Syncor’s plan is to start building the first of two five-unit townhome complexes on the Front Street property in the next couple of weeks.
Work on the second complex could start as early as August.
Smart said he feels many people are waiting to see construction begin and, once it does, will seize the opportunity to purchase a townhome.
“We’re pretty optimistic.”
In fact, Smart said Syncor is getting calls from individuals in places such as Sault Ste. Marie and Timmins who are going to work for New Gold here, as well as local residents who want to sell their current homes and move into a new townhome.
Over on Williams Avenue, meanwhile, Syncor will start building houses for interested buyers at Huffman Court this summer.
“We have two prospective buyers for homes at Huffman Court,” noted Smart.
“Both have settled on designs and have completed financing arrangements.
“[It’s] only a matter of obtaining building permits and we should be ready to start,” he added.
Like the Front Street townhomes, Syncor is confident that once a couple of houses are built at Huffman Court, more will follow in short order.
Syncor has optioned 12 of the 16 lots there to build houses for interested buyers.
Smart said Syncor also will be keeping busy in Fort Frances this year doing renovations and expansions on local commercial properties.
He’s also aware of a Thunder Bay company that has bought some land in the west end of Fort Frances—and is looking at starting a business here.
“Compared to Thunder Bay, Fort Frances is booming,” Smart noted.
