Getting in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Beta Sigma Phi (Alpha Upsilon chapter) will be holding its annual “Sweetheart Baby Contest” to showcase cute youngsters from across the district.
“It’s a really good fundraiser and we usually get a lot of participation,” sorority member Michelle Cain noted.
To enter the contest, parents of babies 24 months of age or younger as of Feb. 14, 2008 must submit a photo (no larger than 3”x2”) of their child.
The first 20 entries will be displayed at The Place from Jan. 26-Feb. 9, where the public will be able to “vote” on their choice for the cutest “Sweetheart.”
Proceeds from the contest will go to the “Building for the Future” fundraising campaign for a new library here.
“It’s for a great cause whether you win or lose,” Cain enthused. “So we really hope to have a fun slate of entries.”
She added the “Sweetheart Baby Contest” has been known to fill up quickly, so parents are urged to submit their entries as soon as possible.
The deadline to enter is this Friday (Jan. 25).
Along with the photo, parents are asked to include the baby’s name and birth date, as well as their names, phone number, and an entry fee of $3.
They then can mail it or drop it off at Betty’s of Fort Frances (266 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 1H2).
The baby must reside within Rainy River District to qualify.
There will be prizes for the three babies who earn the top amount of money through the voting.
