After being examined and tested at the federal virology lab in Winnipeg, initial test results have come back negative for any type of contamination involving letters addressed to three area resorts last week, the OPP reported Monday.
The Sioux Lookout detachment had received a call regarding a suspicious letter from a resort near there around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
The letter—which the employee opened—contained a short, non-threatening message and had a postal return address from Iraq.
The employee became concerned and called police.
Two similar letters also were returned to the Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls post office that same afternoon after two resorts there refused to accept them.
These, too, had return addresses from Iraq, police said.
