Super 8 to add rooms

Staff

The Super 8 Hotel here is looking to expand.
Town council will receive a recommendation at its regular meeting tonight to amend the site plan control agreement with property owner, Borderland Hotel Inc., to accommodate a proposed 24-room addition.
This addition will be to the north side (rear) of the current building.
If council approves the amendment, the Planning and Development department will work with Borderland Hotel Inc. to finalize the application, receive the holding costs of the amendments for the project, and issue a building permit to allow for foundation work to begin in the 2018 building season.
Tonight’s council meeting will follow the committee of the whole meeting, which starts at 5:30 p.m.
There are no in-camera items on the agenda so the public portion should start on time.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•a verbal update on capital projects;
•a recommendation re: use of the East End Hall by the Canada Day committee for a fundraiser;
•an application for tax adjustments at 911 Victoria Ave. (2018), 1880 McIrvine Rd. (2018), and 907 Cornwall Ave. (2018);
•a letter from W. Friesen, The Sleepy Owl, re: maintenance and repair of the back alley;
•a package received from Times Printing re: an advertising opportunity;
•an e-mail submitted by Cynthia Donald re: signs on bike path; and
•a letter from J. Loerzel, Riverside Community Counselling Services, re: a “Shine the Light” proclamation and flag-raising.
