Anyone who loved February’s “Quest for the Best” should mark July 21 on their calendars as the Chamber of Commerce has recently announced that a “Summer Quest” will be held this year to coincide with the 1999 Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.
“The reason we’re doing this is because of the overwhelming response we got with this year’s ‘Quest,” said Chamber coordinator Dawn Booth on Tuesday.
One of the greatest advantages this “Quest” will have over the other is seating capacity.
With a 1,000-person capacity, the “big tent” at the bass tournament will be able to accommodate a large crowd, and tickets will be less likely to sell out in a matter of minutes–a phenomenon that irked many this past February.
But a great event like “Quest” can’t happen on its own, and the Chamber is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the “Quest” committee, and make night of entertainment a reality.
“There’s going to be some of the same people organizing the ‘Quest,’ but we’re really looking forward to getting some new ideas to spice it up,” noted Booth, who added that sitting on the committee was not a very time-consuming job.
She also promised there would be changes in the format of the event for “Summer Quest,” but was unable to release any details at this time.
Besides forming a planning committee, the Chamber is looking to get about 20 volunteers to help out under the tent on the night of the event as well.
Anyone who would like to help out putting on “one of the best community events around” is encouraged to contact Booth at 274-5773 or 1-800-820-FORT.
