Summer programs up and running Not too late to register

The Town of Fort Frances’ summer day programs and specialty camps are off to a great start this year with many different ones being offered for a variety of age groups.
“The programs are all named the same as before and they are basically the same, except we are doing a lot more field trips and fun activities than before,” enthused summer activities co-ordinator Kate Elliott yesterday.
“We are trying a lot of different things this year and it will be more fun than ever,” she added.
All of the programs have been receiving great support so far, but for all of the parents who may have been a bit behind in signing up there is no worry. Elliott assured that for most of the programs there are still a few spots open to fill.
The specialty programs include the Art Express Camp (ages 8+), Active and Creative Kids (Ages 5-7), Sports Camp (8-11), Happy Campers (ages 5-7), Junior Wilderness (ages 8-11), and Survivor Canada (ages 12-15).
There is also the Rec’n Crew program that runs all summer long and hosts a different fun theme every week.
Next week, the kids will be engaging in “Awesome Adventures” where they will get to go horse-back riding and paddle on a canoe trip among many other awesome activities.
Other themes include “Extreme Experimentation,” “Weird n’ Wacky,” and “Wet n’ Wild.”
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Every week offers something new and the kids will never have a chance to be bored.
Registrations for the Rec’n Crew are accepted on a weekly basis so even if you miss one week, you still have a chance next time.
The summer programs are a great opportunity for kids to meet new friends, learn new skills, take new adventures, and get out of the house each and every day.
To register, you can go to the Memorial Sports Centre or you can call 274-4561.
“The spots are filling up quickly, so come and sign up,” said Elliott.
