Summer programs taking registrations

Press Release

Children are not out on summer break yet but the Memorial Sports Centre already is busy with registration for its wide variety of summer programs.
Many different camps are being offered, including arts and sports camps for two different age groups (five-seven and eight and older).
Both the arts camps (Active and Creative Kids and Art Express Camp) and the sports-themed camps (Jr. Sports Camp and Sports Experience Camp) have experts from the community working with the campers throughout the week.
The summer programs also include “Happy Campers” for the younger camper (aged five-seven), taking place at Pither’s Point Park, and “Wild Outdoors” for those aged eight-15, which takes place at Sunny Cove.
Besides the wide variety of specialty camps, the Memorial Sports Centre also offers the summer-long “Rec’N Crew.” You can sign up for a week, two weeks, or even the whole summer.
“Rec’N Crew” offers field trips, arts and crafts, and swimming at both the Point and in the pool.
It also offers a new theme each week.
New this year is “The Crowd Goes Wild,” which is based on many TV game shows like “Wipeout” and “Minute to Win It,” and “Wacky Water World,” which will include a day trip to the Emo spray park.
All our programs are staffed with lifeguards from the Memorial Sports Centre and also have volunteers assisting them.
Summer programs also offer volunteer opportunities for those entering high school and already in high school.
Volunteering for summer programs will allow many students to receive their 40 hours needed to graduate within one week.
