The La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary’s annual “Strawberry Social” yesterday afternoon once again was a success.
Local residents turned out at the Ice for Kids Arena in droves to scoop up strawberry shortcake and other goodies, and enter draws.
Auxiliary treasurer Delores Fraser said the total take from the sale of strawberry shortcake, along with a bake sale, plant sales, book sale, “Pink Elephant” table, and the Lucky Dozen draw, had brought in $4,081.82 as of this morning.
“There might be a bit more coming in once we sell the remaining baked goods,” added Fraser, noting this year’s total was on par with last year.
Once again, the strawberry shortcake was a big hit, bringing in more than $950 at the arena and another $1,300 in take-out sales.
