The La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary executive held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday (June 5) in the lower-level meeting room at there.
This was the last regular meeting until the new working year begins in September.
The annual “Strawberry Social,” set for Thursday, June 14, completes the year.
Please come out and enjoy some strawberry shortcake, as well as the many tables of baking, books, plants, gently-used items, “Pick-A-Strawberry,” and “Lucky Dozen.”
The auxiliary will hold its annual general meeting this Monday (June 11), which will include the swearing-in of next year’s executive.
Judy Webster is pleased to announce some of the items purchased with this year’s pledge have arrived and already are in use.
This year, the auxiliary purchased two Stryker beds for the wards and a new treadmill for the Physiotherapy Department.
It also purchased a television set for the isolation room in the Chemotherapy Department and an apparatus to help those with lower limb amputations to learn to walk again.
The recipient for the $1,000 Auxiliary Bursary has been selected. The announcement of the recipient will take place at the Fort High graduation ceremony later this month.
The new vests with the logo have arrived, which are available for purchase or loan. Members are encouraged to use them at all our events and in the hospital gift shop.
The vests are available for our male and female members. Members are encouraged to start wearing the vests at the “Strawberry Social.”
Karen Robinson has accepted the position of gift shop manager (Monica Sus) will train her for the position.
Congratulations to Karen and a big thank you to Monica for her years of service. The auxiliary wishes you good luck in your new endeavours and commitment with the new women’s drop-in centre in Fort Frances.
In closing, the auxiliary president and executive would like to wish everyone a relaxing and joyous summer–a good time to rejuvenate for next year’s busy schedule.
