A male is in police custody after barricading himself in a Scott Street residence for almost 12 hours on Saturday.
The incident began when Fort Frances OPP responded to an assault on the 800 block of Scott Street involving two males around 4:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers determined a male had barricaded himself inside the residence.
A second male was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The scene was contained, with police having closed a section of Scott Street and requesting the public refrain from attending the area for much of the day.
Those people who were asked by the OPP to leave their residence as a precaution were advised to go to the Memorial Sports Centre for assistance.
The male surrendered to police without incident around 4 p.m., with the area reopened to the public shortly afterwards.
The Northwest Region Emergency Response Team assisted during the dispute, and the Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.
Police said criminal charges are pending.
The OPP thanked the public for their patience during the incident, and also appreciated the assistance of the Rainy River District Victims Services Program.
