Staff tests positive at Rainycrest and six new cases for NWHU

Riverside Health Care has become aware of one (1) staff positive case within Rainycrest Long Term Care Home.
In addition, earlier today, the Northwestern Health Unit has received a report of two new positive COVID-19 test results in the District of Rainy River region, two in the Kenora region and two in the Dryden / Red Lake region.

As part of the Home’s 7-day staff testing schedule this is the first staff member to test positive. The Northwestern Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Rainycrest as a result of one (1) resident testing positive, on January 2, 2021. A total of three residents have tested positive, two of these cases are resolved.

The outbreak remains in effect. The restriction of permitting ONLY a palliative visitor to the Home continues until further notice

All necessary precautions are being taken. Throughout this pandemic Riverside has continued to follow all guidelines of the Ministry of Long Term Care and Public Health directives to ensure everyone’s safety. The home continues to adhere to strong cohort measures for both residents and staff. We remain vigilant in our proactive measures required to continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19, especially for those we support living in long-term care.
