St. Francis raffle raises $3,100

Grade 8 students at St. Francis School raffled off a new TV and DVD player, raising more than $3,100 for their class trip to Quebec City in June.
Lori Petrin won a 32-inch Toshiba television while Sharon Gurski took home a brand new Toshiba DVD player Friday after winning the school’s draw.
Some 43 students, both English and in French Immersion, will spend four days in Quebec on the school’s first Grade 8 trip in 20 years.
Students will fly from Thunder Bay to Montreal, then take a bus to Quebec City on June 5, where they will enjoy a whale-watching cruise, disco cruise down the St. Lawrence, and tours of museums and churches.
Other fundraisers, including tulip bulb and chocolate bars sales, are planned to help pay for the trip.
