Spots still open for seminars

It’s not too late to register for either of two seminars on how to start a small business being held this coming Tuesday (Oct. 21) at the Rainy River Future Development Corp. office.
Business investment officer Angela Halvorsen, who will be teaching the seminars, said this morning that the 9 a.m. workshop is almost full but the 6 p.m. one could use about six or seven more people.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided. Call Halvorsen at 274-3276 to register (leave a message on voice-mail if she’s not there).
Halvorsen said the seminar is aimed at anyone thinking about starting a small business.
“It’s fairly generic. Depending on how much legwork you’ve done, there’ll be some information more pertinent to you than other information,” she said, adding how to get financing is a good example of topics to be discussed.
Besides being able to ask Halvorsen questions, those who attend also will get an information package.
The sessions will last between two ands three hours, depending on the amount of discussion from those attending, Halvorsen noted.
She added seminars on how to start a small business are held at least once a year, and in the past have been a starting point for some local success stories.
Halvorsen noted this workshop is just one of many the RRFDC will be hosting this winter, including a PST/GST workshop on Nov. 5.
The RRFDC is located at 608 Scott St.
