Space still available for women’s forum

There is still space available and time to sign up for the Northern Ontario Women’s Leadership Forum, which will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14 by videoconference in the Rainy River Future Development Corp.’s training room.
Angela Halvorsen of the RRFDC believes this is an excellent opportunity for women of all ages in the area to participate in an exciting leadership forum without leaving the community.
“Not everyone can take the time off work to go to Thunder Bay,” she noted. “It is a full day that would mean travelling in the day before and travelling home the day after. So really it’s almost three days.
“It’s nice to be able to do it here and then you don’t have that travel and the costs associated with travelling.”
Halvorsen added the fee also is a lot less, with videoconference participants paying just $40 while those attending the actual forum in Thunder Bay are paying $165.
“They don’t have to necessarily be leaders already. It could be someone who just wants to better themselves,” Halvorsen stressed. “It will be motivational and interactive.”
Some of the scheduled speakers include Cheryl Cran, a communications expert who works with corporations and associations to improve leadership, teamwork, customer care, and change management.
Another is Sharon Skaling, who will help participants to achieve professional presence and brand image development.
There also will be a panel discussion with women leaders who successfully work in senior management.
The deadline to register is this Wednesday (Nov. 7), and the $40 fee includes lunch. Those interested should contact the RRFDC at 274-5484 or the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre at 1-866-768-6688.
