Tickets are going fast for the local Alzheimer Society’s annual “Forget Me Not” charitable dinner, which is slated for this Saturday (Jan. 21) at La Place Rendez-Vous.
“It was pretty quiet up until last week, and then it seemed people were calling and buying tables,” said Mack Hall, marketing and events co-ordinator for the Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River District.
Organizers are preparing for between 60 and 70 dinner-goers, and while there are tickets still available at the moment, Hall believes they’ll sell out soon so those interested should buy them A.S.A.P.
Tickets cost $50 each or $400 for a table of eight, which can be purchased at the Rendez-Vous or by calling 1-800-682-0245 and paying with a credit card.
The dinner is a charitable event, with tax receipts of $25 per ticket being issued.
The event includes cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.
The menu includes herb- and parmesan-encrusted chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and a mixed vegetable medley.
Local duo, “Entyrely Mac,” with Piper Lidkea, will provide the musical entertainment.
The evening also will feature guest speaker Angela Gentile (nee Wilson), who originally hails from Fort Frances but now lives in Winnipeg.
Gentile’s dad, Ken, and her brother, Mark, and his family, reside here.
Gentile is a geriatric clinician and specialist in aging who has more than 25 years of experience working with older adults and their families.
She will be speaking about one of her books, “Caring for a Husband with Dementia: The Ultimate Survival Guide.”
And be sure to bring along your wallets because there also will be a penny table with fabulous prizes.
Proceeds will go to the local Alzheimer Society to deliver programs and services at no cost to those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
