‘Smile’ cookies now available here

Press Release

Starting today, there are even more smiling faces at Tim Hortons here.
While supplies last, customers can purchase a special smiling chocolate chip cookie for $1 (plus taxes), with all the proceeds being donated to the OPP’s “Respect.Technology” program.
“Tim Hortons is thrilled to help bring smiles to the recipients of the OPP ‘Respect.Technology’ program through our annual ‘Smile Cookie’ fundraiser,” said local Tim Hortons owner Gord McQuarrie.
“The success of the program would not be possible without the support and generosity of our customers,” he stressed.
“On behalf of all the Fort Frances Tim Hortons staff, I would like to thank all our customers for their continued support of this meaningful cause.”
The Rainy River District OPP said it is grateful to Tim Hortons for the financial support as it begins a new initiative designed to teach children and parents across the Rainy River District about “digital citizenship” and online safety.
“Respect.Technology” is a new program that’s been designed to help empower students, parents, and school communities to be safe, responsible, and respectful as they navigate through a highly-digital world.
Through curriculum and presentations, the program will celebrate the power of the Internet and other digital media, but will teach the community about the potential online safety risks.
It will focus on “digital citizenship” emphasizing skill building, critical thinking, ethical discussion, and decision-making.
Tim Hortons has been supporting local communities through its “Smile Cookie” program since 1996.
The “Smile Cookie” program originally began in Hamilton. Since then, it has expanded across Canada, helping a variety of children’s charities, hospitals, and community programs.
