A 68-year-old Minnesota man is missing after his snowmachine went through the ice on Lake of the Woods last night.
Kenora OPP reported Fred Bisel, from Eagle Bend, Mn., was riding with another man near Goose Neck Narrows, 13 km north of Morson, when his sled went through an area of thin ice.
His companion was unable to get Bisel out of the water before losing sight of him.
Due to poor ice conditions and a strong current in the area, an immediate search of the area was not possible.
An OPP underwater search-and-rescue team was en route to the scene and expected to begin searching later this week.
