Wild props and zany antics will take over the stage at the Townshend Theatre here tonight at 6:30 p.m. as Al Simmons kicks off the new “Kids & Company” season.
“He’s the king of puns and one-liners. He is absolutely hilarious,” Gaby Emond of Kids & Co. said this morning. “He’s a lot of fun and a very personable man.”
Emond said one of Simmons’ talents is that he can appeal to both youngsters and their parents.
“It’s like he has two different shows—one for the adults and one for the kids,” she said. “Last year, the adults were pestering me after the show to have him come back they had so much fun.
“We even had some adults who had no kids come last time.”
Tickets for tonight’s show will be available at the door for $12. Passports for the 2002-03 season, which includes four concerts, also will be sold tonight.
“As your family gets bigger, the savings increase,” Emond explained.
Passports cost $30 for one, $60 for two, $80 for three, and $100 for four.
Emond said parents should be very excited about the upcoming season.
“It is a very good season. We have quite a variety. Everything from theatre and musical to comedy and dance,” she noted. “We are touching base on all the different art forms.
“We are not as exposed to the arts as in the city and it is very important that we offer this so that people who can’t afford to go to the city can get the exposure here,” Emond enthused.
