Shaw launch deemed success

Shaw Cable launched its highspeed cable Internet service here last Thursday through Saturday at La Place Rendez-Vous, and the company was pleased with the response.
“We had quite a few people come through,” said Shaw spokesperson Colin Paterson. “It was very positive.”^Computer terminals were set up so people could try out the connection speed. Company reps also were on hand to answer any questions and get people signed up.
While Paterson could not say how many people signed up for high-speed service, about 150 people came through to get information and “test drive” it.
The broadband Internet connection, which the company says is up to 100 times faster than traditional dial-up, is available to Fort Frances residents who subscribe to Shaw’s basic cable.
