Sewer pump repair underway

On April 22, the White Pine Lift Station saw a critical infrastructure failure. The pump’s failure led to sewage backup in mostly the east part of Fort Frances.

The town has been using a temporary pump which emergency management specialist Patrick Briere says has been no less effective then the usual one.

Briere says they expect to get the new pump in as early as this morning, and hopefully no later than the end of the week.

“That would make that lift station active and operational again and would return us to a normal state with the critical infrastructure portion,” says Briere. “But with the amounts of rain they’re forecasting long range we’re still not out of the woods yet.”
