Several facing drug charges

As a result of an investigation by OPP officers with the Fort Frances Community Drug Action Team (CDAT), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Thunder Bay Drug Enforcement Unit, North West Region Crime Unit, North West Region Emergency Response Unit, and Rainy River District OPP, several district residents have been charged.
On July 12 at 4:15 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1100 block of King’s Highway in Fort Frances.
As a result, officers located and seized several types of controlled substances, including morphine, Oxycocet, fentanyl, methadone, cannabis resin, and several marijuana plants grown inside the residence.
Officers also seized 12 firearms.
During the course of the investigation, officers consulted with several agencies, including Health Canada, Kenora-Rainy River Districts Child and Family Services, and the Town of Fort Frances.
Jeremy Johnson, 39, of Fort Frances has been charged with four counts of possession of a Schedule I drug, one count of possession of a Schedule II drug, and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary.
He is scheduled to appear in court here Aug. 26.
Also on July 12, police executed a search warrant at a residence located on the 200 block of Fourth Street West in Fort Frances.
As a result, police seized marijuana, cannabis resin, marijuana “shake,” drug paraphernalia, and cash.
Fort Frances residents Elaine McGillis and Dwayne Arnold Brossart, both 49, were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking of Schedule II drugs and possession of a Schedule II drug (cannabis resin).
They also are scheduled to appear in court here Aug. 26.
Meanwhile, a male youth from Emo has been arrested and charged with drug offences.
On June 24, police executed a search warrant on a parcel of property located in Emo Township.
As a result, police seized 21 marijuana plants from three separate marijuana grow plantations.
Police also seized marijuana stems, hash oil, and firearms from a residence.
The male is charged with production of a Schedule II drug contrary and possession of a Schedule II drug.
The youth also is scheduled to appear in court here Aug. 26.
