If isolation is starting to run you ragged, there’s an excellent opportunity coming to help freshen up and help in the fight against breast cancer.

The first students in the Seven Generations Education Institute (SGEI)’s Esthetician Program, will be holding a spa night in honour of breast cancer awareness month this Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. At the Fort Frances campus The event is being called the Night in Pink Spa and all proceeds raised from it will be going to the Canadian Cancer society.

In return for a small donation, student estheticians will be doing relaxing hand massages. There will also be an opportunity to enter to win prizes and a draw for a free esthetics spa service.

SGEI Esthetics instructor Chantelle Spuzak said the spa night was a good way to both help out the community and support a worthwhile charity in the same stroke.

“For many, this is a scary thing to deal with,” Spuzak explained.

“Being able to make people feel good and give back for Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a great feeling.”

SGEI program coordinator Aimee Beazley added that events like this also benefit the students, providing them with an opportunity to hone the skills they’ve been learning in a more professional setting.

“These events are vital for student learning,” Beazley noted.

“Experiential learning opportunities in which students engage with clients really helps them develop confidence in the classroom.”

In order to take part in the spa night, the public is asked to email spadays@7generations.org in order to register for a time slot. Once registered for a time slot, participants are then asked to arrive at the SGEI campus at the scheduled time and to text “Here” and their name to 807-276-0169 while remaining in their vehicle. In order to ensure the safety of students, staff and participants, all visitors to the campus will be required to sanitize, wear a mask and complete a COVID-19 screening procedure.
