Press Release
The Seven Generations Education Institute’s annual convocation ceremony was held Thursday, June 18.
The ceremony was the largest to date, graduating 79 students from the post-secondary and secondary school education programs.
The sounds of the traditional drum commenced the processional, which was lead by post-secondary director Laura Horton and secondary school principal Sean Taggart.
Post-secondary education graduated students from nine different programs, varying in university, college, and apprenticeship levels.
The secondary school, meanwhile, produced the highest number of graduates to date.
Inspiring students with valedictorian speeches were Karen Green for the secondary school and Sherri Oshawee for the post-secondary programs.
Numerous bursary and awards were given to deserving students, and a feather presentation was made to all graduates with the meaning and importance illustrated by elder Annie Wilson.
The Honour Song celebrated the victory of graduation, and respects the work completed by students and support rendered by their families.
