Session on managing debt to be offered

Press Release

Local MP John Rafferty will be welcoming Sudbury MP Glenn Thibeault, the New Democrat critic for consumer protection, to the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding next week for a pair of meetings aimed at helping area residents better manage their credit card and consumer debt loads.
“Everyone from respected private-sector economists to local poverty activists have recognized the threat posed to families and broader society from rising levels of consumer debt, so we are trying to help people deal with it more effectively,” Rafferty noted.
“Glenn has been a strong voice for reform of our credit regulations in Ottawa, and we are very fortunate to have in the riding to share his expertise with families and individuals who are finding it hard balance their own debt loads and make ends meet,” Rafferty added.
The first of the sessions, entitled “Fight the Fees: Credit Card and Debt Management Information Sessions,” will be held next Tuesday (Feb. 16) from 3-5 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous here in Fort Frances.
The second is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 17 in Thunder Bay.
Admission to both sessions is free and all are welcome.
