Seniors’ shuttle up and running

Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. is pleased to announce that further to funding from the North West LHIN’s “Aging at Home Strategy,” the Rainy River District Home Support Program began operating a senior shuttle van to transport eligible clients to medial appointments yesterday (Jan. 20).
Appointments include dental, doctor, chiropractor, foot care, specialist, CT scan, ultrasound, dialysis, etc.
The passenger must be able to enter and exit the van independently since it is not wheelchair accessible.
The senior shuttle van will operate with volunteer drivers that have been screened and meet eligibility requirements.
Seventy-two hour advanced bookings will have preference.
The van will operate from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. three days per week:
•every Tuesday–Rainy River and surrounding area;
•every Wednesday–Emo and Fort Frances area; and
•every Thursday–Emo and Fort Frances area.
A minimal user fee will be charged as follows:
•within each community ($1.25 per trip);
•Rainy River to Fort Frances ($10); and
•Emo to Fort Frances ($5).
