A recommendation to keep the Fort Frances Senior Centre at the Sister Kennedy Centre or relocate it to the recently vacated Fort Frances Daycare facility will come before council by the end of February.
Committee member on the Fort Frances Senior Centre Board of Management, Coun. Wendy Brunette said the board continues to gather information related to the deliberations regarding the daycare centre.
“At this point a building committee has been formed and we’re awaiting an estimate of the cost to renovate the daycare to specifications required for the senior centre,” she explained.
“Once those costs have been collected, the building committee will once again meet to go through an exercise where individual scores will be applied to weighted factors which were previously determined.”
Once the committee drafts a recommendation, the final decision whether to relocate the senior centre will be made by council, as the Sister Kennedy Centre and daycare are both town-owned facilities.
The senior centres’ next building committee meeting is on Thursday, Jan. 30 and the next Senior Centre Board of Management meeting is Feb. 4.
