Second Street East closed between Armit Avenue and Crowe Avenue to replace fallen signal pole

By Times Staff

Following an accident that happened yesterday morning, the Town of Fort Frances will be closing part of Second Street East for repair work.

On Wednesday, May 20, a tractor-trailer took down one of the traffic signal posts at the intersection of Second Street East and Armit Avenue. No injuries were reported due to the incident, but town and FFPC crews attended the site to safely uninstall and remove the pole.

OPP were on the scene to redirect traffic, causing a detour between Armit and Crowe Avenues.

As a result of the incident, the town has implemented a temporary four-way stop at the intersection, and the section of the street will be closed today while crews work to install a new light post.
