Sears expansion completed

“The place is huge!”
That’s the general reaction Sears customers have when they first see the results of a recent expansion at the dealer store here, owner/operator Roberta Oliver noted Monday.
Located at 448 Scott St., the store showed off its additional 1,000 sq. ft. last Thursday, using some of the existing space from the building next door (formerly Wood’s Sewing Centre).
“A lot of people have come in just to see the work that’s been done and they cannot get over the size we are,” said Oliver.
Now at 4,800 sq. ft. in size, the store features a full line of major appliances, a broad selection of national-brand home electronics, and a range of floor care products, sewing products, barbecues, and outdoor power products.
“Customers will be delighted with the broad range of top-quality products Sears has provided for the new store, including names like Kenmore and Craftsman,” said Oliver.
While the store is locally owned and operated, all merchandise sold is supported by Sears’ guarantee of satisfaction as well as its extensive Parts and Service Division, the largest service network in Canada.
“We are personally committed to satisfying our customers before and after each and every sale,” Oliver stressed.
“We’ve come up with a winning formula for consumers in Fort Frances by combining the national resources of Sears with the local service of your neighbour–truly the best of both worlds in terms of customer service,” she noted.
The Sears catalogue order desk inside the store will continue to provide full service.
The store, which is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., has a total staff of eight, including Oliver’s husband, Trevor.
Oliver said a grand opening is being planned for later this month, with Sears store dealers from Kenora and Dryden expected to attend.
