Sears accepting clothes for diabetes

The local Sears catalogue store is now participating in the Canadian Diabetes Association’s “Clothesline” program, offering the public an easy way to help out a good cause.
Owner Sherry Kaun said people can swing by Sears (located at 390 McIrvine Rd.) and drop off bagged donations of unwanted clothing, linens, towels, and sheets.
The donations then are picked up by Canadian Diabetes Association volunteers and sold to raise funds for diabetes research, education, services, and advocacy.
Kaun said as far as she knows, the CDA still will be doing its curbside pick-ups as they’ve done in the past.
“But in order to make it easier for everybody, we’ve volunteered to be a drop-off location for the whole year,” noted Kaun. “Then, they’ll just come and pick up here.”
Kaun added Sears is giving a $5 coupon to those people who donate two bags or more.
Sears is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon.
