The Rainy River District School Board will hold a committee of the whole meeting tonight to receive information regarding the accommodation reviews for three district schools.
The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous here, is being held as part of the process to determine the futures of Donald Young in Emo, Sturgeon Creek in Barwick, and Crossroads in Devlin.
The purpose is to allow trustees the opportunity to receive administration’s analysis of the accommodation reviews, to ask questions on the information received, and to discuss options fully.
The public is invited to attend the meeting and observe, but it is a meeting meant for trustees.
Opportunities for input already were provided at several public consultations held in each respective community earlier this year.
Earlier this month, the board deliberated over the venue for the meeting.
Some felt the meeting should be held in a central location within the district (such as Emo) to be more fair to those possibly affected by the accommodation review process.
Others felt the Rendez-Vous was suitable, as it could accommodate a large crowd, had a sound system included in the rental cost, and better acoustics than a school gym.
A decision on the fate of the three schools is expected to be made at the board’s regular meeting Jan. 7, which is scheduled to be held in the board office here.
