The Rainy River District School Board will begin a new program this month to recognize the efforts of its employees.
The R.E.A.C.H. program (Recognizing Excellence and Consistent High Quality) will recognize the commitment and achievements of various board staff groups.
“The purpose of the program is to say thank you throughout the school year to all employees that go above and beyond in support of the Rainy River District School Board’s vision,” the board said in a report.
“Each month, the board of education will identify and publicly acknowledge at least one employee group for the employees’ consistent contribution toward the success of students,” it added.
This month, the board is recognizing school secretaries.
“Secretaries are usually the first person that a student, staff member, visitor, or family member meets either in person or on the phone,” the board said in its report.
“The secretaries set the tone for the board and the schools,” it added. “As team players, they make a difference in the lives of our students and staff.”
Other staff groups to be recognized throughout the year include teachers, program support personnel, custodians and maintenance staff, education centre staff, principals and vice-principals, information technology staff, and educational support personnel.
Also at tonight’s meeting, which gets underway at 7 p.m. at Robert Moore School, the public board will award the tender for renovations of Donald Young School in Emo.
The board’s finance committee has recommended the board approve Kuch Stephenson Gibson Malo Architects for the renovations.
The board also will award the tender for four bus routes, and vote on whether to transfer bus routes with Quetico Bus Lines to Iron Range Bus Lines effective Sept. 1.
The transfer comes at the request of Quetico Bus Lines.
