The Rainy River District School Board’s 2009-10 audited financial statements will be up for approval at tonight’s regular meeting, slated to start at 7 p.m. at the Education Centre (the former Robert Moore School).
The audited statements show the past school year ending with the board having a balanced budget, which includes $1.3 million being transferred to the Reserve for Working Funds.
Also tonight, the board will be looking to approve the “details of the Unappropriated, internally Appropriated, and Committed Capital Project components of the Accumulated Surplus in the 2009-10 Financial Statements as presented,” as well as approve the 2010-11 revised estimates on the board’s budget.
As per new provincial regulations, the public board also will be looking to establish an audit committee at tonight’s meeting.
Set to be appointed to this committee will be trustees Dianne McCormack and Dave Kircher, as well as external representatives Kelly McFayden and Reta Dykstra.
The board also will be looking to approve the following updated policies:
•3.40—Director’s Performance Review;
•3.50—Course Subsidies for Teachers; and
•4.12—Provision of Health Support Services in School Setting.
As well, before the board is a motion to open up policy 4.10 (Release of Children from School) for public consultation.
Receiving the “Recognition of Excellence” at tonight’s meeting will be Fort Frances High School’s Academic Assistance Program.
Presentations to the board also will be made on Instructional Coaching in Mathematics, as well as the board’s “Character in Action” curriculum.
