Canada Safeway is warning the public about a current phone scam whereby either an automated or live caller poses as a representative of the company seeking personal credit card information under the pretext that the person has won a large prize.
Canada Safeway does not make unsolicited phone calls to request personal or financial information.
Should you receive such a call, you should hang up the phone and advise your local law enforcement agency.
The company also reminds the public to never give out any personal information over the phone unless you are absolutely sure of who you are speaking with.
While a number of calls have been received in Western Canada, there are no known victims of this scam.
