Local Safeway employees could be walking the picket line down the road after voting 98 percent in favour of going on strike during a meeting here Sunday night.
But no dates have been set to go on strike as the union’s negotiating team waits for a reply as to a counter-proposal made to the company last week.
While details of Safeway’s latest proposed contract offer are not know, workers here have a number of issues with terms which are not acceptable.
In related news, more than 300 Safeway employees in Thunder Bay will be taking a government supervised vote on the company’s latest offer there May 7.
