There were no fatalities on the water or highways in Rainy River District over the long weekend.
Members of the local detachment focused on traffic safety, which resulted in the apprehension of 43 speeders, one seatbelt charge, eight other Highway Traffic charges, and two Liquor Licence Act charges.
There also was one driver who has his licence suspended for 12 hours as the result of a roadside alcohol screening device test.
There were four motor vehicle accidents, but no serious injuries resulted from these.
Meanwhile, detachment personnel continue to investigate a number of break-and-enters that have been reported over previous weeks.
The public is reminded to be vigilant about securing their own property, and to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.
In other news, the operator of a tourist resort in Lake of the Woods Township discovered that someone entered a shed and removed a power generator.
The theft, which is believed to have occurred between July 19 and Aug. 1, is being investigated by Rainy River OPP officers.
