For the first time ever, the Rainy River Future Development Corp. will present two awards at its 1999 Annual Event slated May 26 at the Red Dog Inn.
The Annual Event, which starts at 7 p.m., also serves as the RRFDC’s general membership meeting.
The Women in Business Excellence Award will be presented to the nominee who has “demonstrated success in combining her business prowess, commitment to family, and dedication to community involvement.”
Meanwhile, the Acclamation of Outstanding Mentorship Award will be given to a “seasoned business person who has provided assistance and encouragement, and willingly shared their experiences with a new venture in the district.”
The RRFDC is encouraging local individuals and businesses to nominate themselves or someone else from across the district for either award.
But those who vote must be RRFDC members. If you are one, you should have received a nomination form already.
If not, nomination forms, with specific guidelines, are available at the RRFDC office. Those interested also can call 274-3276.
Nominations must be submitted by noon on Friday, May 21.
Those wanting to join or renew their membership to the RRFDC should remember the deadline this year is this Sunday (May 16).
The Annual Event also will feature Lesley Hughes, a writer, humourist, media trainer, and CBC Radio personality, as the special guest. She’s slated to give a presentation entitled, “Teach Me to Laugh: How your sense of humour can help you survive anything?”
Anyone interested in the RRFDC and what it does is welcome to attend the event. Admission is free, and wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
