The La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary executive held their regular monthly meeting on May 7 in the board room of the hospital.
Dixie Badiuk and Helene Cone are gearing up for “Rockin’ for a Reason.” This year it will be held at the “Spring Market” on May 24 and 25 at the Curling Club.
Rocking chairs will be available for those volunteering to rock.
There will be a donation jar and break open tickets will be sold. Please come by and support this worthwhile event.
Remember all pledges can be handed in to Dixie or Helene or at the booth at the “Spring Market.” Let’s make this the best year ever. (Don’t forget to sign up for the door prize donated by Tim Hortons.)
Dixie, Helene and the executive would like to give a great big thank you to long-time member Maureen Blair-Leighton for her very generous donation to this event. Thank you Maureen.
Meantime, Shirley Scofield has started to prepare for the “Strawberry Social.” See the spring newsletter for items needed.
Please note there will not be a “white elephant” table this year.
The “Strawberry Social” will be held Thursday, June 13 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the hospital grounds.
Judy Webster requests that all quilt tickets be turned in to her by June 1. Draw will be held at the “Strawberry Social.”
Formal assistance on CCU has ended now that admissions to Rainycrest have resumed. Informal visits are still welcome.
Coffee and tea are available in the old dining room on CCU. Ruth Caldwell continues to read to the patients on Fridays.
The Gift Shop Committee reports that the Pharmasave Pop-up Shop has been a great success.
Come check out the gift items; there are some great ideas for Mother’s Day.
The shop is also planning a “Special” at the “Strawberry Social,” so be sure to check it out when coming out to the event.
Membership reports the auxiliary has 232 paid members, 22 not paid (reminders have been sent out) and 15 Rainycrest resident members. Remember to advise Marnie Cumming (274-3368) regarding any change of address or e-mail.
Diane Glowasky advises that the June luncheon and annual general meeting will be held June 10 at Knox United Church at noon.
Tickets will be available two weeks prior and can be purchased at the gift shop, Pharmasave or Shoppers. Hope to see everyone there.
Patient Services headed by Judy Webster continue to work on improvements to the baby baskets given to all new babies born at the hospital.
The auxiliary has added a 20 percent discount coupon for baby items in the gift shop.
Nomination Committee is still in need of a vice-president/Foundation representative and an advertising and promotion director.
If you are interested in either position, please contact Irene Laing (274-9560), Judy Webster (274-3190) or Shirley Schofield (274-2327).
The spring newsletter was distributed the first week of May. If members did not receive a copy, please contact Janet Lambert at 274-2713.
As members are aware, the HAAO has formally dissolved. The regional division has now also formally dissolved.
The local auxiliaries are hoping to continue to work with and support each other as able.
Times are changing and members need to step up and become more active. Executive members are needed.
Please volunteer. This is a very worthy organization and does so much for this hospital and for Riverside corporate.
