Road temporarily closed for repair work

The section of Frenette Avenue between Third and Fifth Street East was closed today due to repair work on a broken water line there.
Transportation Superintendent Milt Strachan said this morning the town became aware of the break at the corner of Frenette Avenue and Fourth Street East a couple days ago, and hopes to have it fixed by the end of the day.
“But you can never say for sure. You never know until you get down there,” he warned.
Water service to neighbouring residences will be shut off during the work, said Strachan. But if the job can’t be completed today, he noted service will be turned back on this evening.
This marks the fourth water line break so far this winter, but Strachan expects such work to be more common in the near future.
“This is the time of year when they start [to break],” he remarked. “With the warmer weather, the ground starts to thaw and starts to move.”
