Press Release
The results are in from a public satisfaction survey Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. conducted during the week of Feb. 23-March 4 at each of its facilities, including La Verendrye Hospital, the Emo Health Centre, Rainy River Health Centre, Rainycrest Long-Term Care, and Riverside Community Health Services Building.
The aim of the survey was to measure consumer satisfaction in the areas of privacy, safety, accessibility, parking, cleanliness, and customer service.
The survey was for out-patients and visitors only. It was not intended for admitted patients or those reporting to emergency.
Members of the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary provided assistance with the survey collection throughout the week.
Completed surveys from all sites topped 400.
The overall level of satisfaction was 4.64 out of a possible 5, with five being “very satisfied.”
Comments on the survey ranged from “services are excellent” to “staff should be commended for the excellent care they provide for the residents.”
Riverside president and CEO Wayne Woods was pleased with the results.
“The survey results and comments indicate our staff are doing a great job in ensuring the Riverside experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible for our customers . . . patients, clients, visitors, consumers ,and residents,” he noted.
“We have top-notch staff who are committed to our vision—to be the centre of excellence in providing a continuum of service in rural/northern health care.”
Woods added the survey also showed some possible areas for improvement, like parking, which is not fully within Riverside’s control.
“Parking is difficult for those visiting the community health services building located at 206 Victoria Ave. [Riverside Community Counselling and Valley Diabetes Education Centre]” he conceded.
The parking problems on Victoria affect Riverside, St. Mary’s Church, and the Town of Fort Frances.
“We are working together and will hopefully resolve it satisfactorily for everyone,” Woods said.
Riverside’s management team and quality council are reviewing the survey results to determine additional areas for improvement.
Riverside will conduct another survey in one year’s time to compare results.
Woods, meanwhile, extended appreciation to those who took the time to complete a survey.
“We serve the people of the Rainy River District and we value their feedback,” he stressed.
“If you’re satisfied, tell others. If you’re not, tell us” he said about the best way to improve services.
