Riverside Foundation joins the Great Canadian Challenge

Press Release

Riverside Foundation for Health Care is taking part in the 6th Annual Great Canadian Giving Challenge, a nationwide contest run by CanadaHelps. Every dollar donated to the Foundation through the online donation form found at www.riversidefoundation.ca is an entry for the Foundation to win $20,000. The more people donate, the higher the chance of winning.

Due to COVID-19 and the associated social distancing guidelines, the Foundation has had to cancel multiple fundraising events including the Spring Luncheon, the Canada Day Cash Lottery and the Fall Gala, resulting in a loss of up to $55,000 in funds coming in for the purchase of much needed medical equipment. Although the events may be gone, the need is not and we are still committed to supporting health care close to home.

Many people are looking for ways to help right now, and although we understand that this may be a financially unstable time for many, we are asking that if you are able to, please consider giving to the Foundation. You may choose to support the Foundation General Fund or can direct your donation to a specific Facility or Department. There is no such thing as a small donation, every dollar raised is a dollar used to support health care close to home, and during the month of June every dollar raised online is also a chance at winning an additional $20,000 for the Foundation.

$20,000 is not a drop in the bucket when it comes to medical equipment. That amount of money could allow the Foundation to purchase up to nine isolation carts; or six IV pumps; or two sit to stand lifts; or a hospital bed and mattress; or a combination of this and other much needed medical equipment.

In other Foundation news, due to the lack of a Canada Day Cash Lottery this year, the decision has been made to hold an online 50/50 Draw during the months on July and August. Stay tuned for more information to follow and keep your eyes peeled on your mailboxes to learn how to purchase tickets.
