Joan Allison is getting out her feather boa and dusting off her top hat for the third-annual Riverside Foundation for Health Care fundraiser dinner coming up Saturday at La Place Rendez-Vous.
“We’re over 200 [guests] and that was our goal. But if we can get 230 before Thursday, it would be even better,” said Allison, chair of the special events committee, adding the last day to buy tickets is tomorrow (Feb. 24)
Tickets for the evening of dining and entertainment with a 1930s twist cost $50 each. A $25 tax receipt will be issued.
Featuring a martini bar, as well as dance lessons by Fort Dance Studio instructor Borka Gauthier, Allison said the Foundation is “thrilled to bits” with the evening’s potential for excitement.
“There’ll be cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., a short program, and then it’s time to get people out of their seats and dance,” she enthused.
A fly-in fishing trip for two, courtesy of Campbell’s Cabins at Lac La Croix and valued at $2,300, will be raffled off once again at the dinner.
Gary Rogozinski, last year’s winner, is stilling raving about it.
“It was fantastic. They treated us very well. Everything was paid for and they had really good meals–breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” he remarked.
“Going out with guides who knew what they were doing was great. We’d fish mostly for bass and when we’d caught enough, we’d always go back for a shore lunch,” he added.
“It was really relaxing.”
Tickets, which cost $5 each, will be sold at the dinner but they’re also available now at The Place.
Meanwhile, the silent auction, featuring 15 items in all, will have something for interested bidders, including a watch, a painting, gold earrings, and a limited-edition polar bear statue.
While not nearly as many silent auction items as last year, Allison said 100 “mystery envelopes” will be on sale for $20 each at the dinner this year.
“You never know what you’re going to get–it’ll be a surprise,” enthused Allison, who said each envelope will contain at least $25 in gift certificates from local businesses.
But one envelope will have a whopping $300 worth inside.
Proceeds from the dinner will go towards renovations to the three district hospitals operated by Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc., including a multi-million dollar project at La Verendrye here.
Last year’s dinner raised more than $26,000.
