Riverside announces new senior clinical leadership

Riverside Health Care is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Harten as vice-president of Long Term Care and Riverside administrator, and Julie Loveday as vice-president of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE).

Both Barb and Julie will assume their respective roles on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. Please join us in welcoming Barbara and Julie to their new senior leadership roles.

“Julie and Barb bring a depth of respected knowledge and experience that will help take Riverside to the next level for both the acute and long-term continuums of care,” said Ted Scholten, Riverside president and CEO.

Harten is a registered nurse with extensive experience as a long term care administrator, director of Nursing and Director of Pre-Hospital and Emergency services. During her time as a nurse, Barb garnered experience ranging from trauma to neuro-surgical intensive care.

In 2013, while serving as the administrator at Algoma Manor Nursing Home, Barb received the North East LHIN “Healthy Change Champion” award presented to those leaders recognized for their efforts in transforming health care into a more coordinated, people-focused system.

In the past five years, she has served as executive director of the F.J. Davey Home in Sault Ste. Marie, a 374 bed long-term care home.

Through Extendicare Assist, Barb has served in an interim capacity this past year as both administrator and director of care at Rainycrest Long Term Care.

Meanwhile, Loveday, also a registered nurse, has been an integral part of the Riverside team for 28 years. Julie has extensive knowledge and experience working in a number of clinical areas at La Verendrye General Hospital over the past 20 years.

She joined the Riverside management team as the director of Inpatient and Emergency Services in 2011.

Julie is a strong advocate of the Riverside MoreOB program and active member of the core team that has received six consecutive annual achievement awards.

Over the course of her career, she has demonstrated the focus, commitment and passion in providing innovative person-centric care.

“Julie and Barbara demonstrate the qualities, vision and leadership that we value to advance Riverside Health Care as a system leader through achievement of our strategic objectives,” noted Henry Gauthier, executive vice-president and Chief Operating Officer.
