Even though tonight’s “Acts of Kindness Benefit” at the local Legion is sold out, it’s still possible to be part of the sale/auction to help out the Fort Frances “Community Chest.”
You can watch the auction via live feed at www.acts-of-kindness.ca (there is a link through the Fort Frances Times’ website at www.fftimes.com).
You also can check out the ad on page B7 of Wednesday’s Times, then phone or text in your bids beginning at the times indicated.
Nine of the “Acts of Kindness” will be auctioned off while people in the room bid simultaneously with those watching via the live feed, and phoning or texting their bids in, beginning at 8 p.m.
The remaining “Acts of Kindness” will be purchased at special lower prices as indicated in the ad.
These will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with the phone lines opening at 7:30 p.m.
The phone numbers to call in a purchase or a bid are (807) 272-5200 or (807) 272-5201.
You also can text (807) 276-5147 or (807) 276-5559.
“It would be very helpful if people could give the “Act” number of the item they want to purchase or bid on when they phone in,” noted Tannis Drysdale, one of the organizers of tonight’s benefit.
You can find these numbers beside each “Act” listed in the Times’ ad, or on the website.
“People have been incredibly generous with large numbers, high value, useful, and entertaining ‘Acts of Kindness,’” enthused Drysdale.
“There are some great gift ideas.”
All proceeds will go to the Fort Frances “Community Chest.”
