Twenty members of 116th Independent Field Battery of the Royal Canadian Artillery will conduct their refresher training here this weekend.
The public is welcome to drop by the recruiting tent in the parking lot of the Fort Frances Curling Club this Saturday (Jan. 26) any time from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Canadian Army mandates all of its soldiers to conduct annual winter refresher training, including use of the Arctic tent and other specialized equipment, as well as basic winter survival skills.
This year, the members of the 116th Independent Field Battery, which is composed of army reservists from Fort Frances, Kenora, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, and Red Lake, will conduct “Exercise Frosty Gunner” on municipal land to the north and northeast of the curling club.
The unit also conducted its winter training here last January.
