Repair forced outage

Fort Frances Power Corp. customers, as well as Hydro One customers east of town, experienced a temporary power outage yesterday afternoon due to an emergency equipment repair.
A Hydro One representative said this morning that crews had to replace a switch at its transmission station on Eighth Street here.
The Hydro One station feeds the FFPC substation, which, in turn, supplies electricity to local customers.
The replacement was related to work that needed to be performed on one of the transformers in the station.
In order to isolate the transformer so that while work was being done on it, it would not impact power supply to everybody, that switch needed to be replaced.
Hydro One was able to provide some advance notice that the outage would have to take place, and sent out an advisory an hour before the actual interruption.
The outage lasted less than an hour.
